Dziś, w drugim dniu festiwalu Berlinale 2013, odbędzie się pokaz najnowszego filmu Małgorzaty Szumowskiej
W imię… Obraz reprezentuje Polskę w konkursie głównym festiwalu. Szumowska konkuruje z takimi tuzami kina jak Gus Van Sant, Steven Soderbergh czy Wong Kar Wai.
W imię… opowiada współczesną historię księdza, który zakłada w małej parafii ognisko dla trudnej młodzieży. Jest lubiany przez ludzi, ukrywa jednak przed nimi swoją skomplikowaną przeszłość. – Pokazuję głównego bohatera, którego zagrał Andrzej Chyra, jako człowieka borykającego się z samotnością. Tematem nowego filmu jest wiara, wątpliwość, tęsknota za uczuciem – powiedziała reżyserka.
Scenariusz W imię… napisali wspólnie Małgorzata Szumowska i Michał Englert, który również jest autorem zdjęć. W filmie obok Andrzeja Chyry i Mateusza Kościukiewicza zagrali m.in. Maja Ostaszewska, Łukasz Simlat, Tomasz Schuchardt, Maria Maj, Olgierd Łukaszewicz oraz aktorzy amatorzy.
– Cieszę się, że znowu mamy film polskiego twórcy w konkursie głównym w Berlinie. To najważniejszy obok Cannes i Wenecji międzynarodowy festiwal filmowy na świecie – komentuje Agnieszka Odorowicz, dyrektorka Polskiego Instytutu Sztuki Filmowej, który współfinansował projekt.
Today, on the second day of the festival Berlinale 2013, the latest film from Małgorzata Szumowska will be screened
In the Name of … The picture representsPolandin the Main Competition of the festival. Szumowska competes against such cinema eminences as Gus Van Sant, Steven Soderbergh or Wong Kar Wai.
In the Name of … tells the contemporary story of a priest who launches a centre for troubled youth in a small parish. He is well-liked by people, however, he hides his complicated past from them. – I portray the main character, played by Andrzej Chyra, as a man who is coping with loneliness. The subject of the new film is faith, doubt, longing for emotions – said the film director.

The screenplay of In the Name of… was co-written by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert, who also lensed the film. The film features performances by Andrzej Chyra and Mateusz Kościukiewicz, with supporting roles by Maja Ostaszewska, Łukasz Simlat, Tomasz Schuchardt, Maria Maj, Olgierd Łukaszewicz, as well as non-professional actors.
– I am happy to learn that once again we have a film by a Polish filmmaker screening in Main Competition at Berlinale. Alongside Cannes and Venice, it is one of the world’s top international film festivals. – says Agnieszka Odorowicz, the General Director of the Polish Film Institute which co-financed the project.
