Lower Silesia Film Fund was created in 2008. Its founders were the self-governments of the Lower Silesia Province and the city of Wrocław. Lower Silesia Film Centre  is the co-producer of the films, which received financing in the Competition.

The Fund is aimed at selecting film projects, which will receive financial support. The key selection criterion a film needs to fulfil in order to receive the support is for its production to be linked to the Lower Silesia region through its topic, filming locations and by engaging artists and entities from Lower Silesia. The Lower Silesia Film Fund is announced usually in the first quarter of each year. As a result of Lower Silesia Film Fund 89 films were co-produced so far.
