The Saint is the story, inspired by authentic events from 1986, of an investigation in one of the most media-savvy criminal cases of the end of the communism in Poland, led by a little-experienced but ambitious militiaman Andrzej Baran. A silver statue of St Adalbert, held in exceptional reverence, is stolen from a priceless Baroque reliquary in Gniezno Cathedral. The head of the police headquarters in Poznań, not wanting to expose his closest trusted colleagues to possible failure, entrusts the case to Baran.
